Appointments

To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures we work primarily by appointment. Emergency cases will receive top priority which is why occasional appointment delays are inevitable. We appreciate your patience and understanding about delays that you may experience here.

Please restrain pets in our office with either carriers or leashes. Please ask if you need a leash and we will happily provide one.

Payment Policy

We require full payment at the time services are rendered. For your convenience, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, personal checks, and cash. We would be happy to provide you with an estimate of cost prior to service.

Anesthesia

Today's modern anesthetics and anesthetic monitors have made surgery much safer than in the past. At North Shore Animal Hospital we always do a through physical examination on your pet before we administer anesthesia. We choose the type and dose anesthetic based on your pet's age, weight, breed, and condition.

Another important advancement in anesthetic safety is our ability to offer in house pre-surgical blood work. This allows us to reduce anesthetic risk by checking your pet's liver and kidney values before surgery. Even apparently healthy animals can have serious organ system problems that can cause anesthetic or surgical complications.

In addition to our electronic monitoring devices, a Veterinary Technician or Assistant is assigned to monitor your pet from the time he/she is anesthetized to the time he/she is completely recovered from surgery.

Of course, there is always a risk involved with anesthetic but we strive to make it as safe as possible. Please ask us if you have any questions.

Diagnosis & Medical Care

The staff at NSAH is dedicated to providing your pet with the best medical care available today. From routine vaccinations to in house hospitalization, we will work hard to make you and your pet's experience as comfortable and pleasant as possible. Rest assured that every animal we see is treated as if it were our own. The greatest reward our job offers is to see our patients feel better from the care we provide.

Our staff of surgeons has decades of experience. We are an AAHA accredited practice which means that we adhere to the strictest sterilization protocols in the industry. Dental Cleaning & Extractions

We provide cleaning, fluoride treatment and polishing along with extractions of abcessed or broken teeth. We also recently upgraded our dental tools to the latest equipment available. This equipment helps to assure that your pet is provided with the safest and cleanest care possible.

Vaccinations

Our clients at North Shore are provided with the safest and most effective vaccinations on the market. We make it a priority to let all of our clients realize the importance of keeping their pets up to date on all of their vaccinations. Please protect your pet from unneccessary illness and give them the proper shots.

Heartworm Testing & Prevention

Heartworm is a serious disease that is carried by mosquitoes and can be fatal to your pet. The best and cheapest plan is to prevent the disease initially with heartworm preventative.

Heska Allergy Testing

Does your pet suffer from allergies? If so, then this test is the best thing you can do to try to solve its problems. Hesha testing is a comprehensive blood test that gives our doctors a listing of all things that your pet is sensitive to. Once we have this valuable information, we can provide your pet with the best treatments for his/her specific problem.

Ear Flushing

Many animals have horrible problems with chronic ear disorders. Left untreated these problems grow into extremely painful situations. We have a gentle, but effective ear flushing technique that is extremely safe for the inner workings of your pet's ear. Anyone with a dog that has ear problems should contact us and ask about this procedure.

Radiographes & EKG

These procedures give our veterinarians the ability to probe into your pet's problems without making his/her life uncomfortable. The longer we can keep your pet happy and comfortable the better chance they have of living a long healthy life.

In-House & Referral Laboratory

We are able to perform bloodwork immediately on very ill animals and surgical patients. The faster we can diagnose what is going on inside your pet, the better chance we have of helping them to quickly return to normal. Anytime we need special work performed, our outside lab has many hardworking specialists on staff to read samples and give expert opinions.

Comprehensive In-House Pharmacy

We have an extensive pharmacy at NSAH. This gives us the ability to get you the right medication for your pet at a good price. Anything we don't have we can get for you very quickly through our good relationships with other local area pharmacies.

Boarding

What better place to bring your pets then your veterinarian. If you are a client here at North Shore Animal Hospital, we offer boarding services to you. Don't worry on your next vacation about your animals. Just drop them off with us and we'll take care of the rest.

Exotic Policy

All of our doctors see an assortment of exotic pets. By exotic we mean other than dogs and cats. We are more than happy to accomodate exotic pets, but not all of our doctors see everything.
